Aren't long weekends the best? Yesterday I spent the morning leisurely strolling through the Long Beach Antique Market with my mom and good pal, Amanda. After the soggy rain, it was nice to be greeted with warm, spring-like weather. Most of my cash went to purchasing some fab finds: vintage children's books (my FAVE thing to collect), wrapping paper from the 1950s, a grab bag of vintage papers, ads, magazines (for $5), and (most exciting of all) five cigar boxes for a couple bucks a pop. Kathleen, have you been to this market? If you haven't...it's a must see -- I know how crafty you are with those cigar boxes! Here, take a gander will you?
The weekend also brought me some goodies from kind friends. First off, the ever fabulous JustJENN sent me two mixed cds that kick arse! Her self-designed cd covers are so crisp, clean, and confident, and perhaps the best part of the covers are her quirky quips. Hank and I spent a good while laughing hysterically over some of her quotes. Here's a peek at her creations. As I type this, I'm rockin' out to J. Ge¡ls Band, The Sm¡ths, The Beaut¡ful South, and perhaps my alltime fave: Depeche M•de! Oh yeah! Now if I could just get my hands on an i•Pod!
We also had more Christmas celebrations with friends. Amiga Amanda bestowed upon us oh-my-gosh-this-is-great gifts: the Se¡nfeld DVD (first two seasons), Apple Lip Balm from Spain (for lil' ol me), toys for the kids, and clothes (a to-die-for cute outfit, and a package of onsies) for......for the BUN. Now mind you, I am well aware of this heart-beatin' bean in my belly, but *gulp* actually seeing real-life gifts for him/her has made this whole baby's-on-its-way business all oh so real!
Today was spent lounging around Heritage Park with dear pals, Lark and Brent (they make having three kids look so easy peasy) and their three kids. Since we were in Hawai'i and they trekking through France and Switzerland (yes! with three kids! I told you they were amazing) during the holidays, we were able to catch up on the holidays. They brought us a trove of yums: Parisian tea, chocolate truffles, Swiss chocolate bars etc. Oh yum!
And now, for those who have been asking for it. Here are my 17 (4 mos, 1 week) week belly pics! I can't believe the bun is almost 1/2 way done! Okay, so here's the picture. Not much to see yet, but here it is in all its belly glory!
Click for larger version Do you like my new belt? Just bought it for $13.00 -- a bargain I tell ya!
Oh, and before I forget, be sure to check out two shops. Crafty gal, Erika, just gave her site a facelift ...check out her goods. And of course the beloved Kathleen has launched her gorgeously crafted site as well. Congrats to both!
P.S. Being pregnant with friends is fun too. Best pal, Sassie Cassie, is pregnant too. She's a mere 29 days ahead of me. There must be something in the water at work, cuz there are a load of pregnant gals there too.
Great Blog!

That Long Beach Antique market sounds like so much fun, I've never been...this needs to be remedied! I love that you found vintage wrapping paper & cigar boxes, oh I could think of a few fun things to create with that. ;)
Hey, I heard through the grapevine that you're going to re-open paper princess. How exciting...I can't wait to see more of your lovely creations.
p.s. That belt is so darn cute...is it vintage??

What belly? Girl, you are a rail! (lucky duck :o) )
I love your finds from the market. You sound so happy today...must be the sunshine and the tunes. Jenn's CD's look great.
Have a wonderful week!

I DO love that belt! And also the books, oh and don't you just love the Seinfeld DVDs? My husband and I have seen them all so many times (through reruns) that we're impossible to watch the shows with since we say all the lines. (We're goofy like that.) And props to you for that tiny little belly for your third pregnancy. You must have abs of steel!

Um, can I have some of that water?
=)
Those finds are FAB! I have been eyeing old Golden Books at a new vintage bookshop I found down the street, but they didn't have the classic goodness you found!
Also, what belly?
I hope the CD's Jenn sent me are the same ones you got. That girl cracks my stuff up.
Happy vibes, so glad you have nice springy weather and made it through the torrents of 2005 with nary a scratch!

I'd die for a belly like that and I'd like the belt to go with it.
I love vintage finds and I love children's books although I don't have kids. Have you ever tried the Golden book series? They have these amazing illustrated books and they are fabulous.
You like The Beautiful South? I do not know a single person who ever heard of them. They are crazy, I have all their CD's and they are so good for sing alongs in the car because the lyrics are wicked :o) - Did I just say wicked?

OH!!! I'm just so jealous of all of your vintage paper goodies! Our indoor flea markets are so crappy here in Maine this time of year!!
YES...that belt is awesome!
Hurray for Expecting Mothers!

Wonderful finds...I am so craving to go shopping for vintage finds...for now it's just lil' ol' ebay.
Good lord! You don't even look like there's a bun in there and you are wearing a belt! Good for you!

Must say I think I'm looking more pregnant than you at this point and I'm pretty sure there's nothing in my oven ;O)
Love the vintage stuff you found!

great finds! those books look awesome! what's "the won..." one?

I loved that you posted belly shots! And how neat to have a close friend to share it all with, that is wonderful! And that belt is great!
What deals at the antique market - I love childrens books too, my collection is new and vintage but all about knights and dragons, but no kids to read them (only me).

Oh my!, half the stuff in my house is from the Long Beach Flea Market!! We used to live in So Cal and we were there every month for years! I am so envious but glad to know that you go so I can shop vicariously through you :) I love vintage children's books too. I've been meaning to post some but I haven't had time to do the scans yet. The ones you got are adorable. And I agree... what belly? You look great!

I haven't visited in a while...Yes, I think there's really something in the water here in SoCal.
Great finds! I'll definitely try the Long Beach Antique Market. I've heard so much about it.

Your belly looks like my negative 1 week belly... meaning what I looked like before I ever had kids! My 200 week belly (that's 40 weeks plus 4 years postpartum) beats your 17 week belly by a long shot!

Well, YOU may have have a warm weekend but we had an ice storm! But today, it was a balmy 66...

Cute, cute belt! How did I know that you'd be one of those women that barely show anything while pregnant? So jealous! I always gained way too much weight with my pregnancies. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm still carrying some of that pregnancy weight around! LOL
Love the books....they remind me of one of my absolute favorites growing up "The Roly Poly Puppy."

Is participation in "Gifty 2" still oopen??
Stopped here for the first time by way of Marcia.
I am 12.5 years POST-baby, and my belly is not nearly as cute as yours!
