Rubber....What?

Okay so a commonly asked question that I receive is, "What the heck does Rubber-Sol mean, anyway?" I've had this here blog for over a year now, and I have neglected to explain the meaning behind the title. It's nothing earth-shattering or deep....to be honest, with the .com explosion, it was gettin' kinda hard to pick a clever domain name.

Anyway, as JustJenn surmised way back when, the title comes from my FAVORITE Beatles' album titled, "Rubber Soul." I am a HUGE, HUGE Beatles' fan, and this album has some of my alltime fave songs, like: "In My Life" and "I'm Looking Through You." Initially I tried to obtain rubbersoul.com, but as I predicted, it was taken. (If you like rubber stamps like I do, check out their site!)

As I mentioned in my previous post, I used to live in México, and I have always admired the artesanías (folk art) of that country. The sun is a popular symbol, and it is used a lot in Mexican art, especially by the Huichol Indians. Sun translated in Spanish is "Sol" -- voilá! a twist on the Rubber Soul moniker. See!? I told you it wasn't that exciting.

Well I'm off to the pumpkin patch. Have a great Sunday!

Oh, well that just explains everything then! hee-hee!

Interesting background. You should put it in a FAQ somewhere round about your "about" page. I don't get alot of FAQ yet, but always think it's interesting to read other people's.

Thanks for sharing and I love the new layout. I can't get enough of those pastime illustrations :o)

Great timing...I am a new reader of your blog (found it when you commented on mine...thanks!) and I was wondering what in the hell RubberSol was!

Interesting, I love how you took something you loved and put your own spin on it!

making all his nowhere plans for nobody.

one of the greatest albums of all time.

Great scott, I'm glad I finally know!

Thank you.

Love your new layout!!

I really like your new format. It's always fun to 'tweak' things, isn't it?

I have a friend who used to say the Massachusetts Sun was made out of rubber -- as in very cold, and non-warming. Being from a tropical island (both of us), it made some funny sense to me.

Thanks for keeping up this interesting site.

I just wanted to tell you how much I love your blog and your beautiful illustrations. And, to also tell you that I live 3 minutes away from the other Rubber Soul...it is one of my favorite places to be in the real world.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.
